Post to a Facebook Page from Voholabs Studio
Studio posts to Facebook Pages, not personal profiles, and it is free on every plan. Connect, choose the page, then post text, photos, a video or Stories, with comments as follow-up parts.
A Facebook Page channel posts as the Page. You need to manage the Page on Facebook. If your Instagram account is linked to the same Page, you can connect it through Facebook too; see Instagram.
How do I connect a Facebook Page?#
- Choose Add Channel and click Facebook Page.
- Sign in to Facebook with the profile that manages the Page.
- When Facebook asks which Pages and businesses to share, include the Page you want. Selecting all of them is the safest choice.
- Approve the permissions Facebook lists. Studio needs them to publish, to post comments and to read Page statistics.
- Back in Studio, Select Page: lists the Pages you shared. Choose one.
- The channel appears in the calendar, named after the Page.
If the picker says "We couldn't find any business connected to the selected pages.", Facebook shared no Page with Studio. Delete the unfinished channel, add it again, and include the Page when Facebook asks.
What can I post?#
- Text only, up to 63,206 characters.
- Photos: one or more. Each photo must be smaller than 4 MB and saved as JPG or PNG.
- One video. If you attach several files to a video post, only the first is used.
- Stories. See below.
- Follow-up parts, added with Add comment, posted as comments from the Page. Each comment can carry one image.
How do Stories work?#
In the Facebook settings of the post, set Post Type to Story. A Story needs at least one photo or video, and each attachment is published as a separate Story, in order.
Post is the default and publishes to the Page's feed.
What are backgrounds and embedded URLs?#
Both are in the Facebook settings of the post and only apply to text posts.
- Embedded URL (only for text Post) attaches a link to the post, so Facebook shows a link preview under the text.
- Background (applies to text-only posts shorter than 130 characters) sets a coloured background behind short text, like the ones you can pick on Facebook. The default is None (plain text). Facebook publishes no official list of backgrounds, so the colours in Studio are close but not exact, and one Facebook no longer accepts is dropped and the post goes out as plain text.
Which analytics does a Page report?#
Open Analytics in the menu, choose the Page and a period of 7 Days, 30 Days or 90 Days.
- For the Page: impressions, post engagement, followers and media views.
- For each post: impressions, clicks, clicks by type and reactions, under Post Statistics when you hover a published post in the calendar. See Analytics.
What do Facebook's errors mean?#
| Message | What to do |
|---|---|
| "Please re-authenticate your Facebook account" or "Access token has been revoked, please re-authenticate" | Reconnect the channel. |
| "Page publishing authorization required, please re-authenticate" | Facebook wants you to confirm you may publish for the Page. Reconnect, and check your role on the Page. |
| "Photos should be smaller than 4 MB and saved as JPG, PNG" | Resize or convert the photo and schedule again. |
| "You are posting too fast, please slow down" | Space the posts out and try again later. |
| "These photos were already posted." | Facebook refuses a repeat of the same photos. Use different images. |
| "Cannot post Facebook.com links" | Remove the facebook.com link from the post. |
| "Content violates Facebook Community Standards" or "Content flagged as abusive by Facebook" | Facebook blocked the content. Change it before you try again. |
| "Facebook service temporarily unavailable" | A problem on Facebook's side. Schedule the post again a little later. |
Frequently asked questions
- Can I post to my personal Facebook profile?
No. Facebook only lets apps publish to Pages. Create a Page for your business or brand and connect that.
- Can I connect several Pages?
Yes. Each Page is its own channel. Add the Facebook Page channel once per Page and choose a different Page each time.
- Does Facebook cost credits?
No. Facebook Pages are free on every plan, including the free plan.
- Why was my background not applied?
Backgrounds only apply to text-only posts shorter than 130 characters, and Facebook changes the backgrounds it accepts without notice. If Facebook rejects the one you chose, Studio publishes the post as plain text instead of failing it.
- Can a comment include a photo?
Yes. Each follow-up comment can carry one image.
