Free social media scheduling tools in 2026: the real limits

Eight of the 14 tools offer something free with no end date, and the terms vary more than the word free suggests. Every figure below comes from the vendor's own pricing page.

• Buffer. 3 channels, 10 scheduled posts per channel, 1 user. The queue refills as posts go out.
• Publer. 3 social accounts with X excluded, 10 scheduled posts per account, and a 24-hour post history.
• Metricool. 1 brand and 20 posts a month, with LinkedIn and X excluded.
• Pallyy. 15 scheduled posts a month, image posts only, so no video, carousels or reels.
• Planable. Your first 50 posts are free with no time limit, and the 50 do not reset.
• Zoho Social. 6 channels for 1 user, but its comparison table marks custom scheduling as unavailable on the free tier, which leaves publishing now.
• Meta Business Suite. Free and uncapped for Facebook, Instagram, Threads and WhatsApp, and nothing outside Meta.
• Voholabs Studio. Unlimited channels, unlimited scheduled posts, team members and API access, with a 2 GB cap on media storage.

X is the network free tiers drop first. Publer and Metricool both exclude it, and Metricool excludes LinkedIn as well. If those two networks are where your buyers spend their day, the field narrows to Buffer, Zoho Social and Studio before you have compared a single feature. The cheapest social media scheduler once free runs out

The cheapest paid scheduling plans are priced per channel, so the bill scales with your footprint. Publer starts at $5 a month for one social account and $9 for two, and Buffer charges $6 per channel on monthly billing for your first ten channels and $4 for each one after that. That is good value at two channels, and at our 11 it comes to $40 a month on Publer and $64 on Buffer.

Flat plans start higher, and six of the 14 tools have no free plan to begin with. Later starts at $25 a month after a 14-day trial, SocialBee at $29, and hosted Postiz at $29 after a 7-day trial, although Postiz is open source under AGPL-3.0 and free to run on your own server. Hootsuite says its plans start at $99 a month, and Sprout Social's entry plan is $99 per seat. HubSpot includes no social tools on its Free or Starter tiers; they begin at Marketing Hub Professional, listed at $800 a month plus a one-time $3,000 onboarding fee. If you are weighing a tool, an agency or an agent for your content, those numbers belong in the same sum.
