# Post to LinkedIn from Voholabs Studio

> Connect your personal LinkedIn profile to post as yourself, free on every plan. You can post text, images, one video, or an image carousel that LinkedIn shows as a document, and add comments as follow-up parts.

The LinkedIn channel posts to your personal profile. To post as a company, use a [LinkedIn Page](https://voholabs.com/docs/channels/linkedin-page) channel; you can connect both.

## How do I connect LinkedIn?

1. Choose **Add Channel** and click **LinkedIn**.
2. Sign in to LinkedIn with the profile you want to post from.
3. Approve Studio's access. LinkedIn asks to use your name and photo and to post on your behalf.
4. The channel appears in the calendar, named after your profile.

## What can I post?

- **Text** of up to 3,000 characters.
- **Images**: one or more.
- **One video**, on its own. A post with a video cannot carry any other attachment.
- **An image carousel** of two or more images. See below.
- **Follow-up parts**, added with **Add comment**. Studio posts them as comments under your post, in order. Comments are text only.

The composer checks these rules before you schedule. If a post breaks one, you see a message such as "Can have maximum 1 media when selecting a video." or "Comments can only contain text."

## How do carousels work?

Studio turns your images into a PDF document and publishes it as a document post, which LinkedIn shows as swipeable slides.

1. Add two or more images to the post. Videos cannot be part of a carousel.
2. In the LinkedIn settings of the post, tick **Post as images carousel**.
3. Optionally fill in **Carousel slide name**. This is the document's title on LinkedIn; it is "slides" if you leave it empty.
4. Schedule the post as usual.

If you tick the box with fewer than two images, or with a video, the composer shows "Carousel can only be created with 2 or more images and no videos."

## Why are there no analytics for my profile?

Studio's access to LinkedIn covers statistics for company pages only, so personal profiles do not appear on the [Analytics](https://voholabs.com/docs/workspace/analytics) page. If you need statistics, post from a [LinkedIn Page](https://voholabs.com/docs/channels/linkedin-page) channel, which reports page and post analytics.

## What should I do when a LinkedIn post fails?

- **"Not enough scopes"** when connecting: you declined part of the access LinkedIn asked for. Connect again and approve it all.
- **The channel shows a red exclamation mark**: the sign-in has ended. [Reconnect the channel](https://voholabs.com/docs/channels/manage#how-do-i-reconnect-a-channel).
- **"Error posting to LinkedIn"** or a processing error: LinkedIn refused the post or could not process a video or carousel. Check the video plays and the file is not unusually large, then schedule the post again.

Studio retries on its own when LinkedIn reports a temporary problem, such as "Resource is forbidden" during an outage.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can I post to my company page with this channel?

No. The LinkedIn channel only posts to your personal profile. Connect a LinkedIn Page channel to post as a company page you administer.

### Does LinkedIn cost credits?

No. LinkedIn is free on every plan, including the free plan.

### Can a comment include an image?

No. Follow-up comments on LinkedIn are text only. Put every image in the main post.

### Why can't I mix a video with images?

LinkedIn allows one video per post, on its own. Post the video by itself, or post the images without it.

### Why did my LinkedIn channel disconnect?

LinkedIn sign-ins last for a limited time, and they end early if you change your password or remove Studio's access in your LinkedIn settings. Reconnect the channel from the calendar and your posts stay in place.
